DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia men's basketball junior forward Frank Champion has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-American team the association announced Tuesday.

Champion was voted to the NABC Southeast Region All-District First Team Monday for the second time in his career.

The All-American selection comes as Champion's first of his career from the NABC after being named a D2CCA All-American a season ago.

Champion was joined by Emmanuel's KJ Jones II as the only players from the Southeast Region to be voted to the All-America team.

This season, Champion led the Peach Belt in six different statistical categories including assists, assists per game (4.8) and field goal percentage (58.5 percent).

He also ranked second in the league in six other categories which includes points (17.5) and rebounds (7.7) per game.

Champion's 152 total assists this season ranked him No. 25 among all of NCAA Div. II passers. The 6-foot-10 forward also ranked in the top-25 nationally with 10 double-double performances in the regular season.

As a 58.5 percent shooter from the floor, Champion ranked No. 20 in the country in field goal percentage.

In the six postseason games played by the Nighthawks so far, Champion is averaging 18.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 block per game.

In what has already been a historic and record setting season, Champion has already said, "We ain't done yet. We've been making a lot of history but we want to be a part of something more."
