Women's Soccer Seeded Third for NCAA Southeast Regional
INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 22 University of North Georgia women's soccer team will return to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional for the fourth consecutive time, the national office announced Monday evening on its NCAA.com selection show.
North Georgia heads into the postseason for the ninth time in the NCAA era after one of the best regular seasons in the program's history. UNG compiled a record of 14-3-3 this season, finishing first in the Peach Belt Conference standings after finishing unbeaten in PBC play in the regular season, playing in their first PBC Tournament championship game since 2017.
The third-seeded Nighthawks will face sixth-seeded Wingate in the opening round, heading to Salisbury, N.C. to compete in the bottom half of the Southeast Region bracket with second-seeded Catawba and seventh-seeded UNC Pembroke facing off in the other game.
On the other half of the regional, fourth-seeded Columbus State and fifth-seeded Flagler will meet for a PBC semifinal rematch in the first round of the Southeast Regional, while top-seeded Lenoir Rhyne will face eighth-seeded Carson-Newman.
The first round of NCAA regional action will begin Thursday (Nov. 16) 3:00 p.m. with the North Georgia-Wingate game, with second-round action set to begin Saturday.
