Five Game Unbeaten Streak Ends at Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. — A five-game unbeaten streak ends against the team it began against as the University of North Georgia fell 3-1 on the road at Lander. The streak began with a scoreless draw against Lander at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park, followed by four straight victories. The Nighthawks took an early lead, but a determined Lander side scored three straight to take the victory.

GREENWOOD, S.C. — A five-game unbeaten streak ends against the team it began against as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team fell 3-1 on the road at Lander. The streak began with a scoreless draw against Lander at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park, followed by four straight victories. The Nighthawks took an early lead, but a determined Lander side scored three straight to take the victory.

Santiago Cano kicked off the scoring in the game, scoring the first goal between the two programs this season. Cano's goal came in the 32nd minute for a 1-0 North Georgia lead. 

Following the goal, the Bearcats found one of their own, tying the game in the 44th minute as both sides were locked into a tie again. After the halftime break, Lander began to find a rhythm as Christian Hatley (LU) continued his hot streak, scoring his second goal of the game in the 59th minute. 

In the 73rd minute, the Bearcats found the dagger, with Carson Graves (LU) finding his first goal of the season to put away the game. Moving to 8-6-2 on the season, the Nighthawks have one final game set on the schedule, a road contest against Georgia Gwinnett. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 2), wrapping up the regular season for North Georgia.
