Miles Named ITA National Assistant Coach Of The Year
DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia men's and women's tennis assistant coach Justin Miles has been named the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Assistant Coach of the Year, as announced by ITA Tuesday.
In just his second season with UNG, Miles has already earned recognition as one of the best assistant coaches in the country. Just recently he was also named the ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year, as the Nighthawk staff swept the coaching honors with head coach Kent Norsworthy being named Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
Miles works very closely with both men's and women's tennis programs at UNG and is an integral part of their record breaking success this year. He has helped the women's program to a 24-1 record and an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance this season, the second in program history.
The last time the Nighthawks made the Elite Eight (2019), they also had an ITA recognized assistant coach. Marcy O'Connor (Huck), the current head coach and Director of Men's and Women's Tennis at Young Harris, was also honored as the 2019 ITA Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Miles assists both UNG tennis programs with a myriad of different topics including match preparation, practice, travel, opponent scouting and in-match coaching.
"The biggest congratulations to Justin for winning the National Assistant coach of the year. He has been a great addition to the tennis staff here at UNG," said Norsworthy. "He is a large reason for the success of the programs, and we look forward to many more years working together."
Miles and the Nighthawks are looking to make history today by taking down No. 28 Academy of Art and earning the program's first ever berth into the Final Four. UNG begins it's Elite Eight match with the Urban Knights at 4 p.m. from Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
