This Week In Nighthawk Athletics: March 4
DAHLONEGA – Seven home baseball and softball games at Lynn Cottrell Park headline the on campus action at the University of North Georgia this week.
The No. 1 Nighthawk softball team has five of those seven games, including a weekend series with Peach Belt rival Augusta. The baseball team welcomes a non-conference foe in Catawba to Bob Stein Stadium for a midweek series.
The winter sports season nears its end as both UNG men's and women's basketball teams will begin their respective runs in the PBC Tournament this week. The No. 15 men's team will play its tournament games at host USC Aiken, while the women's team heads to Georgia Southwestern for its postseason play.
The men's team faces Georgia Southwestern in the PBC Quarterfinals on Wednesday, Mar. 6 for a 12 p.m. tip off. The women's team will play Lander in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 7.
Both the men's and women's tennis teams will compete in a top 25 showdown this week at the Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase in Chattanooga, Tenn. On the men's side, the No. 22 Nighthawks will face No. 23 West Alabama. For the No. 13 women's team, they also have West Alabama, who is ranked No. 3 nationally on the women's side.
