Nighthawks Finish Middle of the Pack at USC Upstate Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In the regular season finale, the University of North Georgia women's cross country team finished in 16th place out of 32 teams at the USC Upstate Invitational, running in an event that featured a majority of NCAA Division I programs.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In the regular season finale, the University of North Georgia women's cross country team finished in 16th place out of 32 teams at the USC Upstate Invitational, running in an event that featured a majority of NCAA Division I programs.

The Nighthawks finished first amongst NCAA DII programs with a total of 473 points after recording points finishes of 50-62-106-126-129 and a total time of 1:37:20. Claire Mills led the way in the event, finishing with a time of 18:38, grabbing 51st place for the Nighthawks.

Emily McBride finished next in the event, grabbing 64th place with a time of 18:48, as both McBride and Mills finished around a mob of runners with 13 places separating the runners in just ten seconds. Elissa Oliver crossed the line next, finishing in 19:33 and 119th place.

Adi Myers and Anna Chasteen wrapped up the top five finishers in the event for North Georgia, with Myers earning a time of 20:05 and Chasteen earning a time of 20:12. Coastal Carolina runner Molly Jones finished first in the event, recording a time of 16:53. Furman ran away with the team title, finishing 73 points ahead of the rest of the field.

Next up for the Nighthawks is the Peach Belt Conference championship, hosted by North Georgia at the UNG Cross Country Course in Gainesville, Ga. The PBC Championship race is set for Saturday (Oct. 21) at 9:00 a.m.
