DAHLONEGA — University of North Georgia cross country runner Claire Mills has been named the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week after her tenth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional race at the UNG Cross Country Course in Gainesville, Ga.

Mills took home a tenth-place finish among a field of 164 runners after posting a 6K time of 22:05, good enough for the second best in program history and was one second shy of the school record held by Brittany Truitt (2014 PBC Championship).

Mills' finish earns her automatic qualification to the 2023 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship on Nov. 18 at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri as the top two finishing individuals who are not part of a qualifying team automatically advance to the championship finals.

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dawsonville, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dawsonville restaurant. Located at 231 Power Center Dr, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
