Linnikova Named PBC Women's Tennis Player Of The Week
DAHLONEGA -- For the second straight week, No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis senior Angelina Linnikova has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week the league announced Monday.
ITA women's singles No. 4 Linnikova went unbeaten over the weekend in UNG's 6-1 win on the road against No. 10 Auburn Montgomery.
In the #1 doubles match, Linnikova paired up with freshman teammate Linn Goerdes for a 6-3 victory over ITA women's doubles No. 15 pairing Estefania Garcia and Ane Ibarra.
Then in #1 singles Linnikova took down Garcia 6-3, 6-3 to help her team seal its first ranked win of the season. Linnikova is now 8-0 in all matches this year across both singles (4-0) and doubles (4-0) competitions. She has only lost 17 games in all four singles matches in total.
Linnikova has now been named as the conference player of the week for the fourth time in her career.
