No. 6 Nighthawks Finish In Fourth Place At ITA Indoor National Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 3 Embry-Riddle on Sunday in the third-place match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) DII National Women's Team Indoor Championship.

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 3 Embry-Riddle on Sunday in the third-place match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) DII National Women's Team Indoor Championship. 

The Nighthawks (6-2) earn a fourth-place finish in the ITA Championship with the loss to the Eagles (6-1).

Embry-Riddle got ahead early in the match after winning the #1 and #3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead overall.

Bendetta Sensi and Laura Cuesta Bret then took victories over UNG in the #4 and #2 singles matches to make it 3-0.

ITA women's singles No. 4 senior Angelina Linnikova provided life for the Nighthawks in the #1 singles match with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Massaine Aik to make it 3-1.

Minutes later however, Jessica Christa Wire Hadipoernomo took a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the #3 singles match to secure the win for the Eagles.

UNG has now finished in third place (2023) and fourth place (2025) in its two ITA Indoor National Championship appearances.

The Nighthawks return to action again on Sunday, Mar. 2 in their first Peach Belt Conference match of the season. They will head on the road to Augusta, Ga. to face the Jaguars of Augusta. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. in the conference opener.
