DAHLONEGA – Senior Joaquin Benoit has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going undefeated in three matches, two of which were against ranked opponents, last week.

Benoit went 6-0 in total in the final week of the regular season which included individual wins over No. 17 Mississippi College and No. 5 Columbus State.

Against the Choctaws, Benoit took down Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) men's singles No. 3 Alex Benichou Blanch in a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory, collecting his fourth win over a nationally ranked opponent this season.

Then he took down CSU's Justin Welz 6-2, 6-2 on Friday in the #1 singles match against the Cougars while also helping to win the #1 doubles match.

As he celebrated his own Senior Day on Sunday, Benoit dominated GCSU's Jorge Robinson 6-1, 6-1 for the quick victory.

The Mar del Plata, Argentina native ended the season with a 12-2 singles record this season. That record results in an .857 winning percentage for Benoit, which currently ranks second all-time in UNG men's tennis history.

The weekly honor comes as Benoit's second this season and fifth of his career.

Benoit and the Nighthawks are now ready to head to Columbus, Ga. for the PBC Tournament beginning on Friday, Apr. 26. UNG has earned the third seed in the postseason as the conference office will announce full seeding and matchups in the near future.
