Blair, Denton Named NFCA All-Americans

DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia softball team had a pair of seniors named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) 2024 All-America Team, as announced by the NFCA Wednesday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Tybee Denton was named an NFCA Second Team All-American, while her battery mate in senior catcher Georgia Blair was named a Third Team All-American.

The two honors this year give UNG a total of 54 NFCA All-Americans under 24-year head coach Mike Davenport. The Nighthawks have had at least one player earn All-America honors in three of the last four seasons.

For Denton, the honor is another feather in her cap in what was an extremely impressive four-year career at UNG. In her senior season alone, Denton made the Peach Belt Conference, NFCA and D2CCA All-Region Teams, while being named the 2024 PBC and D2CCA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year.

In the regular season, Denton led the PBC in eight different statistical categories. Nationally, she ranked in the top-25 in five different categories including strikeouts, hits allowed per seven innings, shutouts and wins.

For Blair, she dominated the offensive categories for UNG, leading the team this season in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, hits, runs, RBI, doubles, home runs and total bases.

She led the PBC in total bases in the regular season while ranking third or better in five other categories including home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. The catcher was one of the best sluggers in the conference and extended her dominance on the national stage, ranking in the top-40 across the country in home runs, RBI, slugging percentage and total bases.

After graduating from UNG in early May, Denton and Blair have left their mark on one of the best Division II softball programs in history.
