Saturday's qualifying score will be the final factor in selecting the field for the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships. This weekend's qualifier score will be added to the average of the team's three highest aggregate scores this season. The teams with the eight highest combined scores will qualify for the NCAA Championship in Lexington, Ky. on March 14 and 15.

UNG's average of its three highest aggregate scores this season is 4656.7 after it posted three scores of 4658, 4657 and 4655 in three straight matches back in November. Its aggregate score of 4658 on Nov. 9 against Wofford currently stands as the program aggregate scoring record.

On Saturday the Nighthawks' total score was contributed to in large part by junior Maya Cameron

The Fort Mill, S.C. native posted splits of 582 (Smallbore) and 588 (Air Rifle) for a combined score of 1,170 as she finished fourth on the overall leaderboard.

UNG was led by Cameron in Smallbore while sophomore Abby Swain followed closely behind with a 579 in the discipline. Swain finished in fifth place in the Smallbore standings.

In Air Rifle it was freshman Alison Sutherlin and her 594 score that led the Nighthawks. Her score was good enough for fourth place in the discipline.

Freshman Brianna Walter was UNG's second-best shooter overall on Saturday as she paired a 577 in Smallbore with a 580 in Air Rifle for a 1,162 aggregate score. The rookie finished seventh overall on the individual leaderboard.

Now the Nighthawks await their fate in the Selection Show which will be broadcast Monday at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com. UNG is looking for its first team appearance in the NCAA Championships in program history. The Nighthawks last sent individual qualifiers to the NCAA Championship in 2023.
