DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia (UNG) women's cross country senior Anna Chasteen has been named as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week.

Chasteen helped the UNG women's cross country team to an eighth place finish Friday morning in the GT XC Invitational in Fairburn, Ga.

The senior clocked a 23:16.7 time for a 25th place finish in th 6k race. Her efforts come as Chasteen's personal best 6k time, topping her mark from the 2023 Southeast Region Championship a season ago.

Chasteen's pace helped the Nighthawks to finish as the second-highest ranked finish among the Division II schools in attendance at the meet. UNG also came ahead of three Division I schools out of the 21 total participants. This is Chasteen's first time winning the Nighthawk of the Week award in her career.

Now Chasteen and the Nighthawks are preparing for the USC Upstate Invitational which takes place in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9 a.m.

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
