Fowler Named PBC Goalkeeper of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- The Peach Belt Conference announced UNG women's soccer senior goalkeeper Sierra Fowler as the PBC Goalkeeper of the Week Monday afternoon.
With a season-high six saves on Wednesday, Fowler helped lift the Nighthawks to a 1-0 victory over No. 9 Lenoir-Rhyne.
The Nighthawks handed L-R its first regular season loss since Sep. 14, 2022 in the shutout victory. The Bears entered the contest having been shutout just twice in the last three seasons. The UNG win also went down as the third highest win over a ranked opponent in program history and the program's first win against a top-10 team since Mar. 18, 2020.
The shutout served as Fowler's third of the season and 21st of her career. In the last three matches, Fowler has faced 11 shots and saved all but one of them.
Fowler becomes the third Nighthawk player to earn a weekly award from the conference this season. This marks the first time Fowler has been named as the conference Goalkeeper of the Week since she ended last season with consecutive weeks earning the honor.
Fowler and UNG are getting ready for the final regular season game of the season tonight as the Nighthawks are set to face Lander from the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park at 6 p.m.
