No. 3 Nighthawks Roll To 18-0 With 4-1 Win Vs. Hawaii Pacific

MACON, Ga. – What has already been one of the best seasons in program history continued Friday morning for the No. 3 University of North Georgia women's tennis team. The Nighthawks moved to 18-0 this year after earning the highest ranking in program history this week with a 4-1 win over Hawaii Pacific in Macon, Ga.

MACON, Ga. – What has already been one of the best seasons in program history continued Friday morning for the No. 3 University of North Georgia women's tennis team. The Nighthawks moved to 18-0 this year after earning the highest ranking in program history this week with a 4-1 win over Hawaii Pacific in Macon, Ga. 

Despite losing in the #1 doubles spot, the Nighthawks rallied for a quick 6-1 win in the #2 doubles spot from junior Angelina Linnikova and senior Svetlana Teterina. Senior Valentina Ascarrunz and junior Carolina Reis then sealed the doubles point with a 6-4 victory in the #3 match.

Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) No. 9 women's singles player Linnikova sealed a quality 6-4, 6-4 victory for UNG in the #1 doubles spot against No. 36 Abigail Wild. 

Despite a loss in the #2 doubles, the Nighthawks clinched the victory in the #3 and #4 spots with a 6-4, 6-2 win from senior Johanna Lippert and a 6-2, 6-0 triumph from junior Ashley Moinard respectively. 

Now UNG looks to make it 19 straight wins on Sunday, Apr. 14 with a short road trip to Atlanta, Ga. to face Emory. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
