DAHLONEGA – The No. 3 University of North Georgia women's tennis team utilized a thrilling comeback in the singles matches against No. 22 Mississippi College Monday to win the match 4-3 and remain undefeated at 19-0.

For the first time this season, the Nighthawks lost all three doubles matches in the contest and entered singles play trailing 1-0 in the match.

ITA No. 26 women's doubles Ely Alas and Fernanda Cota defeated No. 31 senior Viktorie Wojcikova and senior Johanna Lippert 6-3 to headline the doubles sweep. 

However, UNG quickly got back into the match with singles wins in the #1 and #2 spots. 

Junior and ITA No. 9 women's singles player Angelina Linnikova defeated Ely Alas in convincing fashion 6-4, 6-2 to get a point back for UNG. The victory marks Linnikova's 17th of the season as she's suffered just two losses this year.

Wojcikova followed with a 6-4 win in her first set despite falling behind 4-1 early. She won the second set 6-4 as well to secure the victory in the #2 singles spot to put UNG back in front. 

Mississippi College tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 win in the #3 singles match from Cota. 

Senior Valentina Ascarrunz put UNG one win away from clinching the match after a 6-4, 6-4 win in the #6 singles match over Mississippi College's Anna Hudson. 

Then, in a thrilling three set match, junior Ashley Moinard sealed the deal for the Nighthawks by winning the #4 singles contest. 

Moinard opened with a close win in set one, 7-5. However, her opponent, Gabrielle Geolier, won the next set 6-3. A win in set three for Geolier would've tied the match at 3-3 for Mississippi College. Yet, Moinard survived with a 6-4 victory to clinch the match. 

Moinard's clutch play proved to be important as the Choctaws collected a win in the #5 singles match minutes later, meaning had Moinard lost, UNG would've lost its first match all season.

Instead, the program-best 19-game winning streak lives on for the Nighthawks as they get ready to return to conference play.
