AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 23 University of North Georgia women's golf team posted the best round of any team in the 2024 Peach Belt Conference Championship on day two of the tournament. The Nighthawks shot a two-over-par 290 as a team to move into second place 11 shots behind No. 2 Flagler, after ending day one in third place.

It was junior Jadin Ware with a career best three-under-par 69 leading the charge for UNG on "moving day". The Roswell, N.M. native steadied herself on the front nine after back-to-back bogeys at holes three and four. She birdied par-4 fifth before recording an eagle on the par-5 sixth. She followed that with yet another birdie at seven to get to two-under on the round.

She made the turn at one-under but stumbled back to even-par with another bogey at 12. Again, Ware answered her mistake on the previous hole with a birdie on the par-3, 141-yard 13th. That birdie was the catalyst for a three-hole stretch that saw Ware land birdies at every hole. She parred the last three holes of the round for the career best 69.

Despite her eight-over 80 in round one, Ware's 69, which was the best round of any player on day two, lands her in fifth place at five-over for the tournament heading into tomorrow's final round.

Freshman Abby Franks also had a great day for the Nighthawks as she sits tied for sixth after two days in the conference tournament. On Saturday, Franks utilized three birdies to finish with a one-under 71 on the round. Franks birdied the par-4 18th hole to end the round on a high note and become one of just five players in the entire field to go under par in round two.

Junior Ellie Rippe and graduate student Amari Smith sit in the top-15 on the individual leaderboard after two days. Rippee shot a four-over 76 on Saturday, landing her tied for 11th overall at eight-over.

Smith shot a two-over 74 at the same time, which places her alone in 14th on the leaderboard at nine-over for the tournament.

Senior Danielle Humphrey rounds out the field for UNG at tied for 18th after an eleven-over 83 in her second round.

The Nighthawks will tee off in final groupings tomorrow, Sunday, Apr. 21 with Humphrey starting first at 9:26 a.m. Ware will be the last UNG golfer out on the course as she is in the final pairing which heads out at 9:58 a.m.
