Rippee, Smith Named To PBC Women's Golf All-Conference Teams

DAHLONEGA – Graduate student Amari Smith and junior Ellie Rippee headlined this year's Peach Belt Conference All-Conference teams for the No. 23 University of North Georgia women's golf team.

DAHLONEGA – Graduate student Amari Smith and junior Ellie Rippee headlined this year's Peach Belt Conference All-Conference teams for the No. 23 University of North Georgia women's golf team.

Smith was named to the PBC All-Conference First Team while Rippee followed on the Second Team.

The duo, both natives of McKinney, Texas, have been stellar this season for head coach Sierra Campbell's team. Both landed in the top-10 in scoring within the conference this season. Smith finished seventh with an average of 75.2 strokes over 27 rounds. Rippee was not far behind with 76.2 strokes per round this year.

They helped lead the Nighthawks to the third-best team scoring average in the conference, just behind Flagler and Lander.

For Smith, she finished in the top-10 twice this year. Once in the season's opening event at the Meredith Insurance Fall Kickoff, and again at the UNG-hosted 10th Annual Lee Ann Noble Memorial.

In both tournaments, Smith posted her best individual rounds of the season. At the Meredith Insurance Fall Kickoff, she posted a second round, three-under-par 69, helping lift her to a T7 finish. At the Lee Ann Noble Memorial, she opened the tournament with another three-under 69, resulting in her second top-10 finish of the season.

For Rippee, she posted her two top-10s in the back half of the season. Her year was highlighted by earning medalist honors for the first time in her career with a two-under-par T1 finish at the Low Tide Intercollegiate in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. In that tournament, Rippee utilized a career-best and four-under 68 in the opening round to maintain a lead on the field and finish atop the leaderboard.

She then, despite playing in a non-traditional tournament in UNG's Second Annual Bracket Challenge, finished in the top-10 once more after totaling a nine-over-par effort at the difficult Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer, Ga.

This year marks the first in her career that Rippee ends the season as a member of the PBC All-Conference teams. For Smith, it's the second such honor of her career and her first time on the First Team.

Smith and Rippee look to lead the Nighthawks to a conference title, what would be the first in program history, this weekend at the PBC Championship in Augusta, Ga. As UNG hosts the event, it all begins Friday, Apr. 19. More information on the 2024 PBC Men's and Women's Golf Championship can be found here.
