AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 23 University of North Georgia women's golf team finished in second place at the 2024 Peach Belt Conference Championship Sunday afternoon. At 36-over-par, the Nighthawks finished 11 shots behind No. 2 Flagler, the tournament's winner at 25-over.

Head coach Sierra Campbell's team saw three golfers finish in the top-10, led by freshman Abby Franks who finished the tournament eight-over-par in sixth place.

Franks bounced back after a first-round 79 on Friday with two quality rounds on Saturday and Sunday. On day two she shot a one-under 71 to climb up the leaderboard and on a rain-soaked course Sunday, she managed her way to a two-over 74 that included three birdies. With a birdie on the par-4 18th, Franks ended her first showing in the PBC Championship in sixth place, marking her second top-10 finish this year.

Junior Ellie Rippe followed two shots and two places behind Franks in eighth place overall after also posting a two-over 74 on the tournament's final day. With a pair of 76s in her first two rounds and the final-round 74 Sunday, Rippee posted her third top-10 finish of the season, the most of any Nighthawk golfer.

Junior Jadin Ware, who posted a career-best, three-under 69 yesterday, ended the championship with a 78 on Sunday, landing herself in a tie for ninth. The outing serves as Ware's first top-10 outing of the season.

Graduate student Amari Smith followed at T13 after a 78 on Sunday to end the tournament while senior Danielle Humphrey finished T16 after shooting a three-over 75 on Sunday.

As a team, the second place finish marks the second time the Nighthawks have finished that high in the PBC Championship in program history. It also serves as the team's third top-3 finish in the last four years. Since Campbell took over the program in 2020 (her first season at the helm was halted due to COVID-19) the UNG women's golf program has finished second, fourth, third and now second in four straight PBC Championships.

Campbell has also had an individual player qualify for the NCAA Regional in the three previous seasons.
