Five Nighthawks Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team

DAHLONEGA - Five student-athletes from the University of North Georgia women's soccer team have been named to All-Southeast Region teams by the United Soccer Coaches it was announced on Tuesday. UNG's four first team selections marks the most honorees from a single school in the Southeast Region.

Named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team were Sierra Fowler (goalkeeper), Bailey Vessell (defender), Cat Watry (defender) and Maysoon El-Shami (midfielder).
 
Adleigh Wheeler was a second team selection.

Fowler, Vessel and Watry anchored a North Georgia defense that ranks eighth in NCAA Division II and first in the Peach Belt Conference in shutouts with 12.

El-Shami led the Nighthawks in scoring with 18 points (6 goals, 6 assists) while Wheeler finished the season strong accounting for eight of her 13 points on the year in the final four matches.

The Nighthawks wrapped up one of the best seasons in program history with a record of 14-4-4, earning the first win in the NCAA tournament since 2019 and capturing the program's first outright PBC regular season championship.
