Shedenhelm Named Chick-Fil-A Nighthawk of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia (UNG) men's basketball senior guard Hunter Shedenhelm has been named as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the week after helping his team to a 72-67 win over the Jaguars on Saturday
Shedenhelm went off from deep in Saturday's five-point victory over Augusta as he went on one of the most improbable individual runs of the season.
The sharpshooter made his second three-pointer of the game at the 16:49 mark of the second half, giving the Nighthawks a 44-33 advantage. Two possessions later, he was left open again and drilled another triple.
The next time down it was a heat check and Shedenhelm was scorching. He raised and fired another deep three that hit nothing but the net to make it 50-35.
Less than a minute later, Shedenhelm buried his fourth consecutive three-pointer and fifth of the game to make it 53-35 with 13:55 to play. The Pickerington, Ohio had successfully completed a 12-2 run all on his own. He finished the game with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from deep.
Shedenhelm and the Nighthawks return to the floor this week on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a home showdown against USC Aiken. Tip off from Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
