UNG to Host PBC Soccer Championship Quarterfinal Doubleheader
DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia will host quarterfinal rounds of the 2023 Peach Belt Conference Men's & Women's Soccer Championship on Monday, Nov. 6 at the UNG Soccer Field at Lynn Cottrell Park. The top-seeded women's team will take on eighth-seeded Georgia Southwestern at 4:00 p.m. before the third-seeded Nighthawk men host the sixth-seeded Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m.
All students will be admitted for free to the championship with transportation shuttles running from the Dining Hall beginning at 3:00 p.m. to assist with getting to Lynn Cottrell Park. Additionally, Aramark will be providing a ballpark dinner (hotdog, chips and a bottled drink) with a meal card swipe.
For each conference tournament, the winners of the four quarterfinal games will convene at the site of the highest remaining seed for the semifinals and finals Nov. 10 and 12. As the top-seed, the North Georgia women would host the tournament with a quarterfinal victory on Monday.
North Georgia won the PBC regular-season championship with a 2-1 win over Columbus State in the regular-season finale and earned the top seed in the PBC tournament for the first time in program history.
On the men's side, North Georgia is seeded third and is looking to advance to the semifinal round for the first time since 2017 and for only the second time in the past 14 seasons after securing the program's first .500 or better record in six seasons.
