Nighthawks Fall 4-2 in PBC Tournament Semifinals

MORROW, Ga. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of third-seeded Flagler in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Friday night in Morrow, Ga.

MORROW, Ga. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of third-seeded Flagler in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Friday night in Morrow, Ga.

The Nighthawks will now await the NCAA Selection Show which airs Monday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. live on ncaa.com. In the last regional rankings prior to the tournament selections, UNG was ranked No. 9 in Super Region 2. Last year, 10 teams from Super Region 2 were selected to the NCAA Tournament.

Friday's loss came due to a flurry of late goals from the Saints. Flagler got on the board first in the contest with a goal from Joshu Fox in the 34th minute.

UNG answered with a goal from junior defender and PBC All-Conference Second Team selection Vukašin Lukovic. His first goal of the season in the 49th minute tied the game up at 1-1.

The contest would remain tied until roughly 10 minutes remained. In the final stages, the Saints tallied three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead.

PBC Freshman of the Year Jorge Sandoval scored his fourth goal of the season late in the game to give the Nighthawks some life but it would not be enough to mount a comeback.

Flagler advances to the PBC Tournament Championship to face Clayton State.

UNG sits at 8-6-3 on the season and will await the choice of the selection committee for an NCAA Tournament berth. Should the Nighthawks punch their ticket to the tournament, it will be UNG's first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first postseason appearance of any kind since 2004.
