DAHLONEGA – The No. 13 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's tennis team begins its 2025 season shortly and has announced its schedule for the campaign.

DAHLONEGA – The No. 13 University of North Georgia (UNG) men's tennis team begins its 2025 season shortly and has announced its schedule for the campaign.

The Nighthawks begin play in the new season on the heels of another successful year in 2024. UNG went 14-8 last season, marking the program's 10th season with double digit victories and fourth in the last six years.

The Nighthawks advanced to the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the third time in four years and made it to the NCAA Round of 16 for the second time in the last four seasons.

Head coach Kent Norsworthy and his team look to build on a strong season last year as play begins in 2025 on the road at Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.

UNG will then host its home opener two days later on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 12:30 p.m. against local rival Young Harris. The Nighthawks will host another home match against Carson-Newman on Sunday, Feb. 9 before heading back on the road to challenge a tough AUM team at home on Friday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m.

The first PBC match of the season comes on Tuesday, Mar. 4 for the Nighthawks as they will travel to Augusta, Ga. to face the Jaguars of Augusta at 1:30 p.m.

After that, the team will head north to Chattanooga, Tenn. to host the 2nd Annual Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase at Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park. UNG will play three matches in the showcase event from Mar. 8 - 10, headlined by a Mar. 9 showdown with Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason No. 21 Catawba. That match against the Indians is UNG's first of the season against a team in the preseason top 25 of the ITA rankings.

After the program returns from Chattanooga more ranked opponents loom on the horizon.

The Nighthawks will host No. 6 West Florida on Sunday, Mar. 16 at 11 a.m.

Then on Friday, Mar. 28, UNG welcomes No. 2 Flagler for its first home conference match of the season. The Saints were the NCAA DII National Champion Runner-Up to Valdosta State last year and defeated the Nighthawks 5-2 in their only meeting of the 2024 season.

After Flagler, a road match at Lander (Apr. 4, 2:30 p.m.) and a neutral site contest with West Alabama (Apr. 8, 2 p.m.) set the contest for another heavyweight battle at home against No. 5 Columbus State.

Last season the Cougars defeated the Nighthawks in three painstakingly close matches, ultimately ending UNG's season in the NCAA Round of 16 with a 4-1 victory. The Nighthawks will have their shot at revenge at home this year Friday, Apr. 11 at 2 p.m.

UNG's final conference match of the season comes on the road at Georgia College on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m.

The regular season concludes in Montgomery, Ala. with a neutral site match against No. 18 Mississippi College on Thursday, Apr. 17. The Choctaws are the fifth team on UNG's schedule currently ranked in the ITA preseason top 25.

The PBC Tournament (hosted at Columbus State this year) begins on Friday, Apr. 25 and ends Sunday, Apr. 27.
