DAHLONEGA - Following an extensive national search, University of North Georgia (UNG) Director of Athletics Mary Rob Plunkett has announced Brooke O'Hair as the third head softball coach in program history, signing her to a multi-year contract that reflects the university's continued commitment to building a successful future for the program. O'Hair, who brings an impressive 18-year tenure at Mississippi College (MC), will officially begin her duties on Monday, Sept. 16.

"Her track record of success, both in developing student-athletes and building winning programs, aligns perfectly with our vision for UNG softball. Brooke's commitment to excellence and her ability to foster a strong team culture make her the ideal leader to build upon our program's storied legacy."
 
O'Hair's appointment marks a new chapter for UNG softball, following her remarkable career at Mississippi College where she amassed 530 wins, becoming the winningest coach in that program's history. Her recent achievements include back-to-back Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year awards in 2023 and 2024.

A Chattanooga, Tennessee native, O'Hair brings a wealth of experience to UNG, including valuable insights from her time as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, Mississippi State. As a standout player, O'Hair was instrumental in the most successful era of Bulldog softball, helping the team reach the SEC Tournament all four years and the NCAA Regional in three seasons. Her excellence extended beyond the field, as she earned SEC All-Academic honors three times before graduating with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education.
 
O'Hair and her husband, Tony, have two children, Sydney and Cooper.
 
UNG will introduce O'Hair to the community at a meet-and-greet event next week at Achasta. This event will provide an opportunity for fans, students and supporters to welcome the new leader of Nighthawk softball.
