Nighthawks Earn Third-Seed In NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament
DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's soccer team has earned the third-seed in the Southeast Region of the 2024 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament the NCAA announced via the Selection Show Monday night.
UNG earns a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season and the 10th time in the last 13 years. The Nighthawks enter tournament play with an 11-3-3 record, marking a fourth consecutive season with 10 or more wins.
The Nighthawks will face sixth-seeded Wingate in the first round of the tournament for the second consecutive after advancing past the Bulldogs on penalty kicks in the opening round of the big dance last year. UNG holds a 3-3-1 record in the Division II era (2005) in program history, winning four of the last five matchups including the PK victory. Friday's contest will mark the fifth postseason matchup since 2011 between the Nighthawks and Wingate.
The showdown takes place in Hickory, N.C. on Friday, Nov. 22 at 12 p.m. as No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne earned a host spot in the Southeast Region as the second-seeded team in the bracket. No. 2 Columbus State earned the top seed in the region.
