UNG Athletics Accepting Nominations for Hall of Fame
DAHLONEGA - Nominations for the University of North Georgia Athletics Hall of Fame continue to be accepted for 14th induction ceremony scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024 in the UNG Convocation Center. The deadline to nominate for the Class of 2024 is Sunday, May 12.
The North Georgia Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony is presented annually by Northest Georgia Health System.
The Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2011 to honor individuals who have earned outstanding athletic achievement or made substantial contributions to the university. A nine-member Board of Directors is responsible for operations of the Athletics Hall of Fame and serves as selectors for all honorees, based upon nominations.
To be nominated as an athlete:
• A nominee must be a graduate of North Georgia or have played at least two years.
• Eligibility for selection begins in the fifth year after the nominee's university athletic career has ended.
• A nominee must have been an outstanding performer in his/her field of competition.
• A nominee must have been recognized locally, regionally or nationally.
To be nominated as a coach:
• A nominee must have demonstrated outstanding coaching achievement at North Georgia for at least five years.
• A nominee must have been recognized locally, regionally or nationally.
• A nominee can be selected from coaching at another institution if they are a former athlete of North Georgia and have demonstrated outstanding coaching achievement at another institution for at least five years.
To be nominated as a major contributor:
• The nominee must have made a significant impact upon the Athletics program. Significant impact may be in service, monetary or in-kind support over an extended period of time.
