Emener Named Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- No. 5 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball sophomore forward Kendall Emener has been named as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week after a career performance this past week.
Emener's performance this week started with 12 points and four rebounds in an 82-61 win over USC Aiken on Wednesday.
Emener followed that up with one of the best games of her career in an 85-74 road win at Flagler on Saturday.
Against the Saints, Emener dominated as she went 10-for-15 from the floor and 8-of-12 at the free throw line to post a career-high 28 points in the victory. The outing marked Emener's first 20-point performance this season and the fourth of her career. She tied a season-high with three assists as well in the game.
This is Emener's second Nighthawk of the Week award and first of the 2024-25 season.
Emener and UNG are back in action at home this week on Wednesday, Feb. 5 against Georgia College. UNG looks to improve on its 19-1 (8-1 Peach Belt) record against the Bobcats. Tip off from Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center takes place at 5:30 p.m.
The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
