No. 19 Nighthawks Finish Regular Season In Match At No. 14 Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 19 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle team suffered a second straight loss to No. 14 Army on Sunday.
The Nighthawks posted a combined score of 4,632 points for the second consecutive day after shooting the same score against the Black Knights on Saturday.
Freshman Brianna Walter was the highlight shooter for UNG in Sunday's match as she finished in sixth place overall with an aggregate score of 1,169 points. Walter was UNG's top shooter in Smallbore with a score of 579 that she coupled with a 590 in Air Rifle.
In Air Rifle, 2025 SoCon Co-Freshman of the Year Alison Sutherlin headlined the competition with an outstanding 593 score and 49 centers to finish second in the discipline.
Sophomore Corbin Jockers had a big performance on Sunday as he was UNG's second-best shooter with an aggregate score of 1,154 which was good enough for eighth place overall. Jockers shot a 571 in Smallbore and a 583 in Air Rifle as he totaled 53 centers.
Junior Maya Cameron shot an 1,152 to come in ninth place overall on Sunday while freshman Wyatt Hicks posted a score of 1,151 to finish a point behind his teammate in 10th place.
Now the Nighthawks will get ready for the NCAA Qualifiers on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Statesboro, Ga. UNG is looking for its first ever qualification as a team and the third individual qualification in program history.
