Martin Named D2CCA Second Team All-American
DAHLONEGA -- No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball graduate guard Caroline Martin was named a 2025 Division II Conference Commisioners Association (D2CCA) Second Team All-American as announced by the association Tuesday afternoon.
With this honor, Martin joins current UNG assistant coach Julianne Sutton as the only players in program history to be named Peach Belt Conference All-Conference First Team, PBC Player of the Year, PBC All-Tournament Team, D2CCA All-Region First Team, D2CCA Region Player of the Year, Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American and a D2CCA All-American all in the same season.
Martin became the second player in PBC history to win Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year Awards in a career and the seventh in conference history to be named all-conference four times.
Through the regular season, Martin made headlines seemingly every week as she was a four-time PBC Player of the Week, earning the most weekly honors in one season in program history.
She dominated in all facets on the floor in the regular season ranking second in the league in points, field goal percentage and field goals made. Martin also ranked third in points per game, steals, three pointers made and free throws made while also sitting top-6 in defensive rebounds per game and assists.
Martin took her momentum from the regular season into the NCAA Tournament and posted three outstanding performances in UNG's run to the Southeast Regional Championship. She averaged a double-double with 20 points per game and 10.3 rebounds while also adding 5.7 assists and 2.3 steals. She led the nation in total assists (17) in the regional round and ranked fourth in total rebounds. She was named to the Southeast Regional All-Tournament Team for the trio of outstanding performances.
The Cumming, Ga. native etched her name into the UNG record book in numerous categories this season. Her 573 total points stand as the fourth-most in a single season while her 72 steals rank as the second-most in one year. For her career, Martin has now accumulated 1,816 career points and 538 career field goals, both of which rank third in program history. With 146 made free throws on the season, the guard now stands alone with the most made free throws in a career at 552. Her 306 career assists are now fourth all-time and her 180 steals are tied for the second-most. (All aforementioned records are from UNG's NCAA Division-II era from 2005-present)
Martin's 2024-25 campaign will go down as one of the best in program history as this latest All-American accolade is the third of her career and first from the D2CCA.
