ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The No. 8 University of North Georgia (UNG) softball team fell in both games of a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on the road at Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla. on Saturday, snapping a 19-game win streak for the Nighthawks.

The Saints (22-8, 7-1 Peach Belt) scored six runs in the final two innings of game one to walk off UNG (26-6, 9-3 Peach Belt) on a sacrifice fly and win 13-12.

In game two, Flagler jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and never looked back as it finished with a 10-1 (5 Inn.) victory to complete the sweep.

The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow, Sunday, March 23 at 12 p.m. as UNG looks to end the road trip on a high note with a win.

Game 1: Saints def. Nighthawks, 13-12
As both teams were held scoreless in the first inning, senior shortstop Rylie Moody quickly changed that in the second frame with a solo home run to straight away center field, her seventh homer of the season.

A wild pitch brought in another run before freshman second baseman Jenna Miles made it 3-0 with an RBI single up the middle.

The Saints answered in the third inning by putting up seven runs to take their first lead of the game at 7-3.

The Nighthawks quickly answered back in the fourth as senior two-way player Angelina Badalament sparked a big inning with a solo home run to center field. Badalament, who leads the Nighthawks with 98.2 innings pitched this year, now has three home runs, 15 RBI and a .341 batting average on offense.

Her lead-off homer was followed by a single from junior first baseman Marycille Brumby. As freshman outfielder Kayla Berry pinch ran for Brumby, junior center fielder Sydnee Reaves batted her in with a triple down the right field line to make it 7-5.

Reaves came in to score in the next at bat thanks to an RBI single up the middle from Miles.

With two outs, freshman catcher Carleigh Knowles then tied the game at 7-7 with a double to right field that sent Miles across home plate.

Sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Johnson then gave the Nighthawks the lead with an RBI single up the middle to score Knowles.

UNG held the slim lead into the bottom of the sixth inning before Flagler regained the advantage behind a five-run inning that was highlighted by a two-out grand slam from Reese Snipes.

The Saints suddenly needed just three outs to seal the win and end the Nighthawks 19-game win streak.

However, UNG would not go quietly in the seventh as Knowles singled to start the inning. Moody then belted her second homer of the day to left field this time to cut the deficit in half at 12-10 with only one out.

A walk and single set the table for Brumby to make it a one-run game as she singled to right center to bring in a run.

Down to their last out, with the tying run at third base, Miles stepped to the plate with the game on the line. The rookie came through in the clutch once again as she singled through the left side and sophomore outfielder Tagen Levao-Maisonet raced home to tie the game at 12-12.

The Saints eventually got out of the seventh inning without surrendering the lead, meaning they only needed one run to win the game in the bottom of the frame.

They got that run on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly from Kiley McQuillan to end the game with a 13-12 win.

Game 2: Saints def. Nighthawks, 10-1 (5 Inn.)
Flagler rode the adrenaline of the walk off win in game one to a big offensive performance again in game two.

The Nighthawks took an early lead on an unearned run from Reaves in the first inning. It would be their only run of the game as the Saints did not wait long to pull in front.

Flagler put up five runs in the bottom of the first as Snipes homered for the second time in the day.

The Saints extended the lead to 7-1 in the second behind RBI singles from Snipes and Morgan Hicks.

Two more runs came across in the third inning before Flagler got its final run of the game in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded hit batter.
