DAHLONEGA -- No. 9 University of North Georgia (UNG) softball junior Chloe Poss has been announced as the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week per the league office Monday.

Poss had a career day last week for the Nighthawks in a 7-0 win over Union on Wednesday.

Against the Bulldogs she pitched her first complete-game shutout of the season. She allowed four scattered hits and did not allow a walk while striking out a career-high 11 batters. Her 11 Ks are the second-most from a PBC pitcher in any game this season.

She followed that performance with her fifth complete game of the year against Georgia Southwestern as she struck out six more hitters and allowed just three runs to help the Nighthawks extend the second-best winning streak in the nation to 17 games.

The Thomson, Ga. native becomes the third Nighthawk to win UNG's fifth conference weekly award this season and the first to be named the Pitcher of the Week. It is the first weekly award from the conference in her career.

Poss and UNG take the field again this week in a road doubleheader against Wingate. The Nighthawks will take on the Southeast Regional Runner-up from last season in Wingate, N.C. on Wednesday, March 19 with game one starting at 12 p.m.
