Nighthawk 2025 Softball Coaching Staff Announced
DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia (UNG) head softball coach Brooke O'Hair has announced her coaching staff for the upcoming 2025 season. O'Hair will be joined in the dugout by Darren Harmon and Alea Medina next season.
O'Hair joins UNG after 18 outstanding years at Mississippi College (MC) where she won 530 games, made nine NCAA postseason appearances, was a two-time Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year and mentored seven NFCA All-Americans and over 140 All-Region selections.
Harmon joins O'Hair and the Nighthawks this season after having spent the last five seasons as an assistant with O'Hair at MC. While Harmon was with the team, the Choctaws won over 130 games. Over the course of the 2022 and 2023 seasons, O'Hair and Harmon led MC to a 91-21 record which included appearances in the 2023 NCAA South Regional Tournament and the 2024 South Super Regional.
"I am very honored to announce the addition of Darren Harmon as an assistant coach at UNG," said O'Hair. "He has such a great passion for coaching and building these young ladies to be the best version of themselves not only on the field, but off the field as well. He will be instrumental with recruiting, outfield, hitting, and day-to-day operations here at UNG."
Prior to joining O'Hair's staff at MC, Harmon spent nine years as a youth softball and baseball coach for various organization throughout Mississippi. He spent three seasons as the head softball coach at Canton Academy High School in Canton, Miss.
Along with Harmon, O'Hair has retained current UNG assistant coach Alea Media for the 2025 season. Medina spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with UNG, winning a National Championship with the program in 2023.
"We are very fortunate that Alea will be staying on our staff as the pitching, catching, and softball operations coach," said O'Hair. "She wholeheartedly exemplifies who we are, and her love for the sport and the players is unmatched."
Medina and Harmon will join O'Hair in the dugout as the inaugural softball season under O'Hair begins in 2025.
"I could not have been blessed with a better staff than these two incredible people. We are all different in our own ways, but all have the same purpose and mindset for coaching these young ladies," said O'Hair.
