Opening Day of Las Vegas Desert Classic Canceled

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The opening day of the Las Vegas Desert Classic has been canceled due to local heavy winds and low visibility. The No. 2 University of North Georgia men's golf team will resume play tomorrow (Mar. 3) at 7:00 a.m. PST (10:00 a.m. EST) with a shotgun start. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a goal of an 18-hole final round on Tuesday, Mar. 4.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a goal of an 18-hole final round on Tuesday, Mar. 4.

The teams began play today before the conditions warranted a round one cancelation after four holes. The greater Las Vegas area remains in a wind advisory for the remainder of the day.

Half of the 20-team field is ranked within the top-25 in the Clippd NCAA Division II rankings, including five teams (#1 Colorado Christian, #2 North Georgia, #6 Oklahoma Christian, #7 Lincoln Memorial and #8 Lee) ranked in the top-10.
