No. 15 North Georgia Set To Host 2025 NCAA South Regional
GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The No. 15 and eighth-seeded University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team is set to host the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional at Chattahoochee Golf Club (CGC) in Gainesville, Ga. May 5-7 this week.
The Nighthawks have partnered with the Greater Gainesville Sports Alliance (GGSA) for the fourth consecutive season to host an NCAA regional at CGC.
Last year the UNG men's golf team hosted and won the 2024 South/Southeast Regional to eventually advance to the NCAA National Championship match.
In 2023, the Nighthawk women's golf program and GGSA hosted the South Regional one year after hosting the 2022 NCAA Women's Golf National Championship.
This week will mark UNG's first team appearance in the South Regional in program history.
Head coach Sierra Campbell led the Nighthawks to a record-setting fall campaign as the Nighthawks broke the 18-hole and 54-hole scoring records. UNG ended the fall portion of the season by earning its highest Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) ranking in program history, billed as the No. 11 team in the country.
The Nighthawks ended the regular season with four top-5 finishes in their final five tournaments which included a second-consecutive Runner-Up finish in the Peach Belt Conference Championship.
Against this year's South Regional field which welcomes 14 of the nation's top-25 teams, UNG holds a 23-15 head-to-head record from the regular season. That mark includes marquee victories over No. 2 Wingate, No. 3 Flagler, No. 5 Findlay, No. 13 Lee and No. 14 Tampa.
The Nighthawks will tee off in round one of the regional Monday, May 5 at 10 a.m.
