MONROE, N.C. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf climbed five spots up the leaderboard to finish in sixth place at the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, N.C. on Wednesday.

The Nighthawks combined to shoot 41-over par over the 54-hole event. No. 2 and host of the event Wingate claimed the victory by one shot over No. 1 Anderson as the Bulldogs posted an aggregate score of 12-over. No. 10 Lee came in third place 13 shots behind the Trojans, while No. 23 Lander and Carson-Newman rounded out the top five at 33-over and 36-over respectively.

For the second event in a row, senior Jadin Ware was one of UNG's top competitors. The Roswell, N.M. native battled to a tie for 16th place after shooting a 9-over 81 on Tuesday. Ware finished 9-over par in total after posting back-to-back even-par 72s in the final rounds on Wednesday at the 6,103-yard track.

The senior has been consistent in her scoring lately, finishing in 19th place or better in six straight events. She entered the Jerry Surratt Memorial coming off her best performance of the season, a third-place finish at the Low Tide Intercollegiate

Joining Ware in the seven-way tie for 16th was sophomore Abby Franks. The second-year Nighthawk led her team in scoring with a 3-over 75 on day one. On Wednesday, Franks finished 76 (4-over), 74 (2-over) for a 9-over tournament score.

In a tie with Ware for the lowest score on the week, the performance marked Franks third appearance in the last four events as UNG's top scorer.

Freshman Ellie Jane Riner made another appearance in the top 25 on Wednesday as well. Similarly to her aforementioned teammates, Riner improved her score immensely from day one. Carding a 3-over 75 in round two and a 1-over 73 in the final round, Riner jumped 10 spots on the individual leaderboard. Her T-25th finish marks the sixth time she has finished in the top 25 or better in her rookie season. She has never finished worse than T-27th.

Senior Ellie Rippe and sophomore Camryn Wright finalized the scoring on Wednesday as both golfers tied for 31st place at 15-over.

Junior Cora Mount also finished at 14-over and in 27th place as an individual for the Nighthawks. Senior Lainey Panter also competed individually as she netted a 38th place result at 17-over.

UNG has a big trip on the docket for its next competition as head coach Sierra Campbell is taking her team out to Carmel, Calif. And Quail Lodge Golf Club for The Patriot Invitational, hosted by Dallas Baptist, where Campbell was previously an assistant before taking over the Nighthawk women's golf program.

Competition in The Patriot Invitational starts on Monday, March 17 and concludes on Tuesday, March 18.
