DAHLONEGA -- No. 30 University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball freshman second baseman Jake Prince has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Prince had a big week for the Nighthawks in which the team went 4-0 in four road games.

In UNG's first road win over a top-5 team since 2017 (No. 4 Catawba) on Wednesday, Prince went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

In a record-setting three-game sweep of Augusta in which UNG scored 55 runs over 20 innings, the rookie went 6-for-15 with eight runs, three doubles and four RBI. He plated five runs on Saturday to help the Nighthawks set the program run scoring record in a 31-1 victory over the Jaguars. His five runs scored tied the individual record for most runs scored in a single game in program history.

In total, the rookie went 7-for-18 (.389) with nine runs scored, four doubles and five RBI. He had two multi-hit and multi-RBI days and recorded at least one hit and one run in every game.

This marks the first conference weekly honor of Prince's career and the eighth weekly honor for UNG this season. Four of those eight awards have been Freshman of the Week honors.

Prince and the Nighthawks take the field at home again this week on Tuesday, April 1 against Anderson. First pitch from Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park is set for 5 p.m.
