Stinson Named PBC Baseball Freshman of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- For the second time already this season, University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball redshirt freshman Nicholas Stinson has been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.
Stinson has been scorching hot at the plate this year and he kept things rolling in a weekend sweep of Claflin.
In total, the rookie went 6-for-12 (.500) at the plate with seven runs scored, a double, three RBI and a walk.
He had back-to-back multi-hit games in the wins on Friday and Saturday and scored multiple runs in every game of the weekend.
Stinson's hard work extended his active hitting streak to a team-leading 14 straight games. It's the longest hitting streak of any Nighthawk this season.
With this week's announcement, Stinson becomes the sixth UNG baseball player to be named PBC Freshman of the Week twice in a season. He is the third Nighthawk in the the last five season to accomplish the feat.
Stinson and UNG take the field at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park this week again on Wednesday, March 12 for a standalone game against No. 22 Young Harris. First pitch from Bob Stein Stadium is set for 3 p.m.
