AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 22 University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball team had its six-game win streak snapped Saturday in a 9-2 road loss at Georgia Southwestern (GSW).

UNG (26-10, 14-3 Peach Belt) entered Saturday's contest riding high after an impressive comeback in the first game of the series against the Hurricanes (24-14, 12-5 Peach Belt) on Friday.

The second contest in the three-game set went differently as the Nighthawks held an early 2-0 lead in the game.

In the second inning, senior outfielder Jorge Arispuro opened the scoring with an RBI single to make it 1-0.

Junior center fielder Andrews Opata added the second run of the game as he scored from third on a wild pitch to take a 2-0 lead.

GSW got a run of its own in the third and took its first lead of the game with a pair of runs in the fourth.

It was a lead the Hurricanes would not relinquish as they scored two runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings as well, ultimately leading to the seven-run victory.

The result is a series tied at 1-1 and a rubber match set for Sunday, April 6 at 1 p.m. The Nighthawks are 1-1 in rubber matches this year and will look to preserve their unbeaten record in conference series on Sunday.
