Martin Named Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- No. 7 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's basketball graduate guard Caroline Martin has been named the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the week after her performance in the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.
On the way to winning the program's fifth PBC Tournament title, which is now tied for the most all-time, Martin led the Nighthawks in scoring in two of their three games in the tournament.
With 25 points in the quarterfinals against eighth-seeded Clayton State and 15 points the following round against fourth-seeded Georgia College, Martin led UNG in scoring in both outings.
The Cumming, Ga. native averaged 16 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4.7 steals while shooting 93.3 percent at the free-throw line over the three postseason games last week. After celebrating an 81-72 victory in the championship game against seventh-seeded Georgia Southwestern, Martin was named to the 2025 PBC All-Tournament Team.
Martin loaded up on some more accolades last week as the 2025 PBC All-Conference Teams were announced on Friday. She was named the 2025 PBC Player of the Year and earned a spot on the PBC All-Conference First Team.
With the fourth all-conference selection of her career, Martin became just the seventh player in PBC history to be named to the all-conference team four times. She also became just the second player in league history to win both the Freshman of the Year and Player of the Year awards in her career.
Martin and the Nighthawks look to continue their historic season this week as UNG is set to host the 2025 NCAA Division-II Southeast Regional at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center. The top-seeded Nighthawks will take on eighth-seeded UNC Pembroke in the first round of the tournament on Friday, March 14 at 5 p.m.
The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
