Martin Named PBC Player of the Week

DAHLONEGA -- For the second time this season, No. 5 University of North Georgia (UNG) graduate guard Caroline Martin has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

DAHLONEGA -- For the second time this season, No. 5 University of North Georgia (UNG) graduate guard Caroline Martin has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Martin helped the Nighthawks to a pair of wins with two dominant performances this week.

First, Martin dropped a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double while adding three steals in an 82-61 win over USC Aiken. The outing marked her first double-double of the season and the eighth of her career.

Then in an 85-74 overtime road win at Flagler on Saturday, Martin shined with another career performance. The Cumming, Ga. native recorded a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with 23 points for her second consecutive double-double. She added four steals and three assists in UNG's first overtime victory this season.

In total this past week, Martin averaged 19.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. In the last four games she is averaging 21.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.8 steals. She now has two double-doubles this season and nine in total in her career.

Martin and the Nighthawks will take the floor at home again this week on Wednesday, Feb. 5 against Georgia College. Tip off from Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center is set for 5:30 p.m.
