SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's cross country team finished in 11th place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship Friday morning.

With the top three teams and top two individuals from non-qualifying teams advancing to the NCAA Championships, the 2024 season comes to an end for UNG in the regional.
Senior Anna Chasteen finished in 45th place, marking the best finish in the Southeast Regional of her career. She motored around the Milliken Research Center to the tune of a 23:24.0 time, just 7.3 seconds shy of her 6k personal best. Chasteen recorded three top-10 finishes and five top-30 finishes this season.
Following Chasteen and Mills was sophomore Nealeigh Broadwell who came in 80th place with a personal best 24:23.2 time. With the performances, Broadwell secured personal best improvements in the 4k, 5k and 6k this season.
Rounding out the scoring were freshmen Maggie Welp and Aubrey Dishman. Welp was just behind Broadwell in 82nd place with a 24:31.1 mark. Of the three 6k races Welp ran in this year, her time on Saturday was the best of the first-year Nighthawk runner. Dishman followed in 93rd with a 25:02.3 pace.
The fifth season under head coach Chris England has come to a close for the Nighthawks. A roster that was led by key veterans but featured a number of impressive freshmen finishes the season with plenty of excitement on the horizon.
