No. 11 UNG Finishes In Fourth Place At Patriot Invitational

CARMEL, Calif. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team finished in fourth place out of 15 teams at The Patriot Invitational at Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel, Calif. on Tuesday.

CARMEL, Calif. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team finished in fourth place out of 15 teams at The Patriot Invitational at Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel, Calif. on Tuesday. 

No. 4 and host Dallas Baptist (DBU) won the event at 33-over while Harvard finished two shots behind in second place. No. 9 Cal State University San Marcos (CSUSM) landed in third place ahead of the Nighthawks who shot a combined 45-over team score of 897.

Sophomore Abby Franks led UNG in scoring as she finished in sixth place at 8-over for the tournament. She posted the best round of the final day with a four birdie-filled 72 at the 5,875-yard, par-71 Quail Lodge GC. 

Franks has been on a roll lately with three top-10 finishes in her last five events. In that same span she has finished no worse than 16th in any tournament. She is now tied for the team lead with three top-10 finishes on the year.

Senior Jadin Ware came in 11th place at 12-over for the tournament after finishing her outing with a 2-over 73 in the finale. Ware made the largest charge up the leaderboard of any Nighthawk on the final day of the tournament as she improved eight spots in the finale.

Freshman Ellie Jane Riner also came in 11th place along with Ware as she closed the invitational with a 4-over 75 on Tuesday. Riner has finished in the top 15 in six of eight events in her rookie season thus far.

Junior Cora Mount closed the scoring for the Nighthawks with a 24th-place finish, her seventh top-25 performance of the season.

UNG now gets ready to host the 3rd Annual UNG Bracket Challenge at Chimney Oaks Golf Club in Homer, Ga. on Apr. 7-8.
