No. 11 Nighthawks Lurking In Second Place After Day One At Low Tide Intercollegiate

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in second place after 36 holes at the Low Tide Intercollegiate at Dunes West Golf & River Club in Charleston, S.C.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 11 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's golf team sits in second place after 36 holes at the Low Tide Intercollegiate at Dunes West Golf & River Club in Charleston, S.C.

UNG posted a combined 16-over par 592 on day one of the event. The Nighthawks trail only Limestone who leads the 14-team field at 10-over.

All six UNG golfers including individual competitor Camryn Wright finished in the top 20 on day one at the par 72, 6,066-yard track.

Senior Jadin Ware leads the way after day one as she carded an opening-round 72 Monday. Ware followed that up with four birdies in her second round as she finished the outing with a 2-under 70. Ware currently sits two shots back of Limestone's Claudia Hastings in second place on the leaderboard.

Wright posted consecutive even-par 72s in the first two loops as she stands alone in fifth place among the 76-player field.

Freshman Ellie Jane Riner utilized a 1-over 73 and a 5-over 77 in both rounds to follow Ware in tie for eighth place at 6-over for the tournament.

Sophomore Abby Franks shot an 80 in the first round but rebounded with a 1-under 71 in round two after birdieing holes 11 and 12 consecutively. Franks, who has finished in the top 15 or better in three of her last four events, currently slots a T10 spot.

Junior Cora Mount finished the day with a 73 in round one and a 75 in round two for a 13th-place standing on Monday.

Senior Ellie Rippee finished in first place in this same event last year. On Monday Rippee scored back-to-back 77s in the first 36 holes to finish the day in 17th place.

The Nighthawks will tee off tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 25 in search of their first win of the season. UNG has finished fifth or better in every event this season which includes three finishes of third place or better.
