Nearly 70 Nighthawks Honored With D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award

DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia had 68 student-athletes receive the 2023-24 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, as announced by the D2 ADA on Saturday.

DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia had 68 student-athletes receive the 2023-24 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, as announced by the D2 ADA on Saturday.

Among the seven Peach Belt Conference schools to have at least one student-athlete win the award this year, UNG's 68 total honorees was third only to Georgia College and Flagler. 

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director
Must be a current dues paying member of the D2 ADA. The student-athlete also must, (1) have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, (2) have completed a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work at a two-year and/or four-year institution and (3) have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year. 

Below is the sport-by-sport breakdown of the Nighthawk student-athletes to receive the Academic Achievement Award for the 2023-24 academic year.

Baseball - 5 honorees
Women's Basketball - 8 honorees
Men's Basketball - 1 honoree
Women's Cross Country - 3 honorees
Women's Golf - 4 honorees
Men's Golf - 4 honorees
Women's Soccer - 13 honorees
Men's Soccer - 10 honorees
Softball - 10 honorees
Women's Tennis - 5 honorees
Men's Tennis - 2 honorees
Women's Track & Field - 3 honorees
