No. 13 North Georgia Earns Sixth Seed In 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional
INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in eight years, the No. 13 University of North Georgia (UNG) baseball team is back in the NCAA Tournament as the Nighthawks earned the sixth-seed in the 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional as announced by the NCAA office Sunday night.
In the final season under legendary head coach Tom Cantrell UNG will head to Belmont, N.C. to take on third-seeded and No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne (LR) Thursday, May 15 to begin play in the regional.
In the Southeast Regional #2 Tournament hosted by second-seeded and No. 23 Belmont Abbey (BAC), the Nighthawks will join the Bears and seventh-seeded No. 22 Carson-Newman (C-N) at the home of the Crusaders for the regional tournament.
The winners of the first two games between UNG & LR and BAC & C-N will face each other in the second round of the double-elimination tournament. The losers will do the same in the first elimination game.
In the other half of the Southeast Regional bracket, No. 8 and top-seeded Catawba will host fourth-seeded and No. 7 Young Harris, fifth-seeded and No. 13 North Greenville and eighth-seeded and No. 29 Lander in Salisbury, N.C.
The winners of the two Southeast regionals will meet at the highest-remaining seed May 22-24 in a best-of-three Super Regional series with a chance to advance to the NCAA DII National Championships for the College World Series May 30 - June 7 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
The Nighthawks are looking to head back to the CWS for the first time since 2017 and second time in program history.
