No. 6 North Georgia Women's Tennis Unveils 2025 Schedule

DAHLONEGA – The No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team has unveiled its schedule for the 2025 season. The new season comes on the coattails of the best season in program history last year.

DAHLONEGA – The No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis team has unveiled its schedule for the 2025 season. The new season comes on the coattails of the best season in program history last year.

In 2024 the Nighthawks reached historic heights with a 25-2 record, the best record in program history. In that span they won 19 straight matches, the most in program history. The season culminated with a first ever win in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship along with the program's first ever appearance in the NCAA National Semifinal in Orlando, Fla.

An exciting 2025 season in which UNG returns three key pieces from last year as well as some powerful transfers is just around the corner.

The Nighthawks, ranked as the sixth team in the nation this preseason by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), begin their season on the road on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Lincoln Memorial.

UNG returns to Dahlonega for its home opener just over 24 hours later to take on Young Harris at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek.

The next two matches are at home for UNG before a big road contest at No. 10 Auburn Montgomery on Friday, Feb. 14.

A week later the Nighthawks will head to Indianapolis, Ind. for the ITA Indoor Championship which takes place Feb. 21 - 23. Their first match is scheduled against PBC foe and No. 7 Flagler on Friday, Feb. 21.

UNG will likely face two more ranked opponents during its time in Indianapolis as each of the eight teams in attendance are guaranteed three matches and seven of the eight participants are currently ranked in the preseason ITA rankings.

After the ITA Indoor Championship the Nighthawks will return to the Peach State for their PBC match of the season on Sunday, Mar. 2 at Augusta. First serve takes place at 1:30 p.m. in the conference opener.

A week later, UNG will make the short trip north to host the 2nd Annual Scenic City College Tennis Spring Break Showcase in Chattanooga, Tenn. at the Champions Club Tennis Complex at Rivermont Park. The event takes place from Mar. 8 - 11 and the Nighthawks will face Lee, Lees-McRae and Belmont Abbey.

UNG will finally host its first home PBC opponent on Saturday, Mar. 29 at 11 a.m. when the No. 7 Saints of Flagler come to town. This match marks the first of a critical stretch near the end of the season for the Nighthawks.

The Mar. 29 showdown with Flagler will likely be UNG's fifth match of the season against a team currently ranked in the top 25 of the ITA preseason rankings. It will also mark the first match of a 19-day stretch in which the program will face four ranked opponents in six contests.

On Tuesday, Apr. 8 the Nighthawks will take on No. 12 West Alabama in a neutral site match in Rome, Ga. Three days later they will host No. 9 Columbus State in Dahlonega on Friday, Apr. 11.

Last season, the Cougars ended UNG's historic 19-match win streak with a 4-3 victory over the Nighthawks in the penultimate match of the regular season. At 2 p.m. on Apr. 11, UNG will seek revenge from last year.

The last ranked match of the season takes place in Montgomery, Ala. in a neutral site contest against No. 19 Mississippi College on Apr. 17.

UNG finally closes the regular season at home on Saturday, Apr. 19 against Georgia Southwestern.

The PBC Tournament (hosted at Columbus State) will begin on Friday, Apr. 25 and end on Sunday, Apr. 27.
