Poss Named PBC Pitcher of the Week
DAHLONEGA -- University of North Georgia (UNG) No. 8 softball junior pitcher Chloe Poss has been named as the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
Poss was lights out in three appearances in the circle this week for the Nighthawks who went 5-0 and built their win streak to nine straight games.
On Tuesday, the junior pitcher started in the circle in a doubleheader against Lee. She only gave up four hits and one earned run with no walks and three strikeouts in the complete-game victory over the Flames.
Then on the weekend, Poss struck out 10 batters with just two hits, two walks and one run allowed in an 11-2 (5 Inn.) victory over Columbus State in the first of a doubleheader on Saturday. She also belted her second home run of the season in the game to aid the victory.
The outing marked Poss' second game with double-digit strikeouts this season and her 14th victory on the year. She totaled 18.1 innings, five earned runs, three walks and 18 strikeouts in total over three games last week.
This weekly honor comes as the second of Poss' season and career. She will take the diamond again this weekend when the Nighthawks head to Augusta, Ga. for a three-game weekend series against the Jaguars. First pitch in Friday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
