Nighthawks Earn Three PBC All-Conference Selections
DAHLONEGA – The University of North Georgia (UNG) women's soccer team had three players selected to the 2024 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference Team as announced by the league office Thursday morning.
Senior midfielder Darby Olive, junior midfielder Adleigh Wheeler and junior forward Bailey Oetinger marked UNG's all-conference selections as all three players were named to the PBC All-Conference Second Team.
Olive is having the best season of her career having posted career-highs in goals (six), assists (four) and points (16). Olive has been on a tear in the second half of the season, scoring five of her six goals in the last eight games for the Nighthawks. Last Saturday, Olive tallied a goal and assist in UNG's 3-0 win over Georgia Southwestern in the PBC Tournament Quarterfinals. This is Olive's first ever selection to the PBC All-Conference Team.
Wheeler earned her second consecutive nod on the PBC All-Conference Second Team. She made the all-conference team last year and was a preseason all-conference selection prior to the 2024 season. She's followed those honors with four goals, three assists and 11 points starting every game in the midfield this season for the Nighthawks. Back on Sep. 21 against USC Aiken, Wheeler recorded the first hat-trick of her career, helping UNG to an 8-1 win over the Pacers.
Finally, Oetinger earned her first career PBC postseason honor in her first season in the conference after transferring to UNG from Lipscomb last spring. The forward has been a welcomed addition to the Nighthawks, tallying six goals and three assists for a combination of 15 points.
With the selections this year, UNG has earned three or more all-conference selections in six consecutive seasons.
Olive, Wheeler, Oetinger and the second-seeded Nighthawks will continue their run through the PBC Tournament as they take on third-seeded Flagler on Friday, Nov. 15 in Columbus, Ga. at 7:30 p.m.
