DAHLONEGA -- No. 6 University of North Georgia (UNG) women's tennis senior Angelina Linnikova has been named the Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the third time in her career as it was announced Monday from the conference office.

Linnikova, the No. 4 ranked women's tennis singles player nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), went undefeated in doubles and singles this week to help UNG to a pair of wins over Young Harris and Erskine.

On Tuesday, Linnikova paired up with freshman Vasilissa Kupriyanova for a 6-2 win in the #1 doubles match. She followed that up with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Simone Mercier in the #1 singles contest to secure a 6-1 win over the Mountain Lions.

On Saturday against Erskine, Linnikova and senior Carolina Reis cruised to a 6-0 win in the #1 doubles match. Then in the #1 singles match, Linnikova took down Hanna Vasconez 7-5, 6-2 to help her team to a 6-1 win over the Fleet.

In four matches last week, Linnikova went 4-0 in total and in 47 sets she held a 37-10 record.

Linnikova and the Nighthawks are looking ahead to their first test against a ranked opponent of the season as the battalion heads to Montgomery, Ala. for a road match against No. 10 Auburn Montgomery. First serve against the Warhawks is scheduled for 1 p.m.
